The UK’s first natural wine fair

Posts about Terroirs, Brawn, Artisan & Vine and Bar Battu, wine bars focused on natural wines, underscore this niche but growing trend and, in May, the UK will see its first natural wine fair at at London foodie hotspot, Borough Market.  The event will take place during Natural Wine Week, which will take place all over the capital at the fair and in restaurants.

With over 100 producers in attendance, it’s a great opportunity to dip your toe into the world of organic or biodynamic wines made with minimal intervention in the winery i.e. without the use of chemicals or additives.  As the fair’s organiser Isabelle Legeron MW puts it, natural wines “are wines that are a true representation of where they are from, rather than being a plastified version that has had a lot of nipping and tucking”.

The Natural Wine Fair at Borough Market will be open to consumers on Sunday 15th May followed by two trade days on 16th and 17th May 2011.  Importers supporting the event: Aubert & Mascoli, Dynamic Vines, Les Caves de Pyrene, Wine Story and Yapp Brothers.  See the dedicated website here for more details.
