Jansz NV: Seasonal wine of the day

For me, Tasmania sparkler Jansz Non Vintage will forever be associated with celebration, as will the small town of Denmark, Western Australia.  It was here that I discovered I’d been selected for Australia’s prestigious Landmark Tutorial – the (excellent) local bottle shop came up trumps with a bottle of the Jansz! 

While Champagne prices have shot up since I left Oddbins around six years ago, the same cannot be said of the Jansz, where it’s £12.99 or £9.74 when you buy (any) six bottles and take advantage of Oddbins’ standard 25% off discount when you buy 6 bottles or more.  Plenty of class in the glass at this price with beautiful clarity to its restrained fruit and Jansz’s signature nougat.  Here’s my note.

Jansz Non Vintage (Tasmania) – very fresh and bright, with a fine thread of bead to its subtly nougat edged restrained white peach fruit and a  persistent, mineral finish.  A well balanced, sleek sparkling wine.
