Divine Dubrovnik & D’vino wine bar

I’m just back from holidays in Italy and Croatia – very hard to believe this cool, grey day in London that I was bathing and basking in temperatures in the mid thirties plus this weekend….

Anyway, should you ever be in the beautifully preserved, stunningly located city of Dubrovnik (pictured), I’d recommend checking out D’vino Wine Bar in the old town – 60 wines by the glass, knowledgeable staff and shade!!! Great local cheeses too.

We embarked on a very mini-vertical of Posip wines from the island of Korcula (pictured). Very good they were too – put me in mind of Pfalz Riesling.

As for the main photo, it’s a wonderful depiction of harvest time on a sarcophagus from Salona, the capital of the Roman province of Dalmatia. It’s displayed at the Archaeological Museum in Split, which is located a short distance away from Salona. Further pics below – I particularly like the one showing a big cat lending a helping hand/paw!
