Brokenwood 40th Anniversary: ILR Semillon vertical, some pics & some stand outs!
Wow, I’m going to be buying some Hunter Semillons when I get back home! Of latest vintages, 2009 and 2005 are crackers, but this morning I was privileged to taste Brokenwood’s ILR (Reserve) Semillon back to 1992 (flight pictured), including two single vineyard 2005 Semillons.
And flight is the appropriate word – these are wines that fly and should fly off the shelves given their relatively modest price for the complexity and structure they attain with age. My favourites? A tough call, but 2005, 2003, 2001, 1999, 1997 and 1994.
OK over and out and onward for me – next up, after lunch, a vertical of Brokenwood Graveyard Shiraz going back to 1983.

Hi Sarah, Thanks for this great post! Reading your reviews makes me happy that I have a few bottles of (the regular) Noval from 2015 onwards!! All
Thanks for the suggestion. I know Lance Foyster quite well. However I have just found the Wine Society are now listing an Encruzado for £15.50
