Blandy’s 1968 Bual Madeira: seasonal wine of the day

Renowned for its indestructible qualities, it might comfort some that Vintage Madeira will last to infinity and beyond but then why wait?  Take Blandy’s 1968 Bual, which came my way during this year’s trophy judging at Decanter World Wine Awards.  Utterly delicious, I could have quite happily supped it all afternoon given half the chance, but so patently did it deserve the trophy, there was no excuse to linger!

Here’s my tasting note on the very worthy winner of Decanter World Wine Award’s Regional Trophy for a Madeira over £10:

Blandy’s 1968 Bual – shows a terrific concentration and drive of tangy, spicy, chutney-like dried fruits with burnt honey and nutty caramel.  Long and focused and could go on and on, if you can resist it…. £75 at Wylie Fine Wines
