Beetroot, horseradish and white wine…a good match!
Just thought I’d share a great veggie/wine food match for a salad of beetroot, pink fir potatoes and mixed leaves, topped with a soft-boiled egg.
Earthy beetroot, the bite and kick horseradish & mustard leaves together with an unctuous soft boiled egg make for a challenging wine match. I pondered and came up with Covela Branco 2008 – an unusual Portuguese blend of Avesso and Chardonnay with Gewurtztraminer – the latter’s body, earthiness and spice rose to the occasion admirably. I think Gewurtz is a winner with beetroot and will be experimenting further…
All best

Thanks for the suggestion. I know Lance Foyster quite well. However I have just found the Wine Society are now listing an Encruzado for £15.50
