An alternative wine focused week down under
This cartoon at my tasting station at The Australian Alternative Wine Variety Show made me laugh. With a little under 800 entries to be judged in two days, followed by trophy judging this morning, my table had rather more than six wines. But I can assure you, there was plenty of class in the glass.
Here are a few pics from the show to give you a picture of the goings on. As you can see the cartoon was not my only distraction. It’s quite meditative watching Australian Harness Racing.
After trophy judging we got our first glimpse of the bottles. Let me tell you lots of surprises in there. Picpoul. Oh yes. Australia is doing it.
The results are out tomorrow. I’ll let you know them next week and flag some personal favourites.

Hi Sarah, Thanks for this great post! Reading your reviews makes me happy that I have a few bottles of (the regular) Noval from 2015 onwards!! All
Thanks for the suggestion. I know Lance Foyster quite well. However I have just found the Wine Society are now listing an Encruzado for £15.50
