Unsettling animal picture of the week: snail hankers after Aussie Shiraz

The Guardian Weekend readers will be familar with the newspaper’s “unsettling animal picture of the week” item.  Today I pay tribute with this pic taken on my phone at Thursday’s Decanter Panel tasting of Australian Shiraz. 

Is it a bird, is it a plane?  No it’s super snail, whom I hasten to add I didn’t throw in the air as someone suggested!  He’s ascending the outside of the tasting room window.

But it’s still unsettling – first how did he get to the giddy heights of the 10th floor?  And don’t the vines look incongruous and garishly green against the backdrop of the City on a grey London day.
