Happy holidays, festive cheer!

Not being a meat-eater, when I’m talking Christmas bird, it is our emblematic Christmas bird, the robin.  I’m leaving all tweets to him over the festive period.

The Wine Detective will be taking a break until 3 January 2018, when my first post of the year will be tempting you to visit Portugal, which just scooped the World Travel Awards World’s Leading Destination 2017.

It won’t be a plug for my fabulous May Douro Valley Port & Wine tour (but please do feel free to join me!), but a post about the Azores.  Having fallen in love with the archipelago at first sight, after three work trips, I at last made it back to São Miguel and Pico for holidays last June.

If you love nature, walking and wine, of course, the Azores is for you.  Check out my hot tips in my first post after the break on 3 January.

Meantime, enjoy the Christmas workout.  Eat, drink and be merry!
