New: London & Port Lodge wine maps

I shall, no doubt, be paying close attention to maps as I navigate my way down to and then around Western Australia’s remote Great Southern region today.   Best to keep off the red dirt gravel tracks as I recall!  Much closer to home two new wine maps help the (non-driving obviously!) wine lover to negotiate the best wine and Port watering holes in two of the world’s great wine capitals, London and Oporto.

“Curated” by wine writer Matt Walls at £2.50 from publishers Blue Crow Media the map is as cheap as chips so a handy handbag/pocket guide (and note there are cocktail and craft beer maps in the same series).

Inevitably given London’s dynamic food and wine scene, the job of mapping it is akin to painting the Forth bridge i.e. never-ending, so I highly recommend you follow updates on new joints, also wine deals events and the like on the Twitter feed @londonwineguide and/or via the app of course!

One omission is Capote y Toros which I checked out just before I headed off down under.  The Sherry List has no less than 125 sherries which also find their way rather deliciously into the tapas – like the razor clams with Tio Pepe caviar pictured.

Catavino’s Port Lodge Map

I am particularly thrilled to see that, now based in Oporto, Catavino’s founders Ryan and Gabriella Opaz have wasted no time mapping the city’s Port Lodges in Vila Noval de Gaia.  Rather prettily too.

And having struggled to verify and update lodge locations when I consulted on The World Atlas of Wine a couple of years back I heartily congratulate them for taking the initiative.
