Wines of Portugal Challenge 2013 gold medal winnners

cvp_ing02

I judged at the Wines of Portugal Challenge in Santarem last month, the results of which were released on Friday.

There was a gold medal for every week of the year – yep, that’s 52, four of which bagged best of awards and 11 of which scooped premium gold awards.

A healthy silver (81) and bronze (125) medal tally too.

Below you’ll find the gold medal winners; click here to find out the full results. As you’ll see, João Portugal Ramos’ Duorum venture with José Maria Soares Franco performed notably well and there were good performances from co-operatives.

    Hi Sarah,

Very interesting to read about the results of the Wines of Portugal Challenge, especially about Duorum: I had the good fortune to visit them 2 weeks ago and was deeply impressed by the 2011 VP (and the 2012 will be very, very good as well!) and the Tons de Duorum Red ’11 was more or less our “housewine” during our stay: impressive quality with an unbeatable price/quality relation!!
By the way: in your Regional Reports section I find a 2011 VP roundup, but when I click on it, nothing appears (error 404). Am I too impatient?

    All the best,

    Paul metman

Hi Paul, I’m just back from Portugal travels – holidays this time – fantastic! Good to hear re the Duorum and agree with you re vfm. The 2011 vintage report was scheduled to post during my absence and seems ok now? Hopefully you have been able to access it now? V best Sarah
