Blandy’s Colheita Bual 1991: today’s seasonal recommendation

Back in April, fortified wine geeks Danny Cameron and Ben Campbell-Johnson launched a new trade tasting, The Big Fortified Tasting which, I’m happy to say, is set to become an annual occurrence.   Today’s seasonal recommendation was a stand out of the tasting and will challenge many a perception of Madeira.  It’s a seriously mellow fellow:

Blandy’s Colheita Bual 1991 – smooth as,  with rich, ripe, figgy dried fruit and cafe crème with spice; long, beautifully balanced and utterly engaging.  What’s more, it’s listed by Slurp at £35/50cl bottle, so elegible for the Catavino 15% discount about which I blogged earlier today.
