Oddbins’ The Palate 2015

Oddbins’ The Palate is back!  The mega amateur wine tasting competition attracted 21,000 entrants last year, clued up amateurs and complete novices alike.  Why not get down to your local Oddbins’ this weekend and put your taste buds to the test?  Here’s the video of last year’s The Palate final to give you a feel for what’s involved.

Once again, I’ll be mentoring then judging in the last two of four rounds of The Palate alongside Saturday Kitchen husband and wife team Peter Richards MW & Susie Barrie MW and Oddbins’ Buyer Ana Sapungiu.

Round 1 kicked off this weekend and continues over the weekend of June 27/28 in all Oddbins’ shops.  Make it through the first two rounds and you’ll participate in one of the four mentoring “boot camps” – a chance to develop and hone your tasting skills with the professionals.  And of course, you stand a chance of getting through to the final.

Although only one person can be named The Palate 2015, prizes up for grabs in the grand final include a ‘wine holiday’ to South Africa; a long weekend in Italy; a day course at the Raymond Blanc Cookery School; wine prizes totalling £3,000; much free wine; and the chance to pick a wine for Oddbins to list nationwide.

Here’s Oddbins’ store locator. Go on, you know you want to!
