Serious Vinho Verde by the magnum at Quinta de Soalheiro

A week on Monday I’ll be presenting a Vinho Verde tasting for the press and trade over lunch at Skylon restaurant in the Royal Festival Hall.  The aim is to show that, these days, Vinho Verde comes in a wide range of guises from the classic off dry quaffer with spritz to more serious, dry wines of intensity which can be paired with a range of food dishes. 

Take the part-barrel fermented in chesnut/partial malolactic Alvarinho I’ll be showing with roasted corn fed chicken breast.  Intrigued?  I can’t extend an invitation to lunch, but the wines I’ll be presenting and a good many more will be shown in the evening at a tasting open to the public, including* this surprising Vinho Verde (pictured below right) from a vineyard at 600m – one of my May Wines of the Month.  [*Apologies, just informed Quinta do Ferro will not be present 10/5/17]
