Fancy lunch at Cinnamon Kitchen with Yalumba’s Louisa Rose?
Last year Good Food asked 100 Australian winemakers, wine buyers and sommeliers who are the best living/working winemakers in Australia. You guessed it, Yalumba’s Louisa Rose topped the poll. So I am thrilled to have the pleasure of co-presenting two events with the super talented, ever so affable winemaker in one week. First a Yalumba wine lunch at Cinnamon Kitchen, then Wine Australia’s One Day Wine School, a trade event.
The Cinnamon Kitchen lunch on 9 June is organised by food writer Amber Dalton of Sip & Savour, who never fails to come up with a fabulous venue for her regular wine lunches. If you have any doubts about whether wine and curry marry, I can guarantee they will be dispelled. The chef behind Cinnamon Kitchen is The Cinnamon Club’s Michelin-starred chef Vivek Singh, who works hand in glove with in-house wine expert and sommelier Laurent Chaniac on numerous wine tasting menus and events.
Coincidentally, I’ve drawn on Chaniac’s expertise on Australian wine and Indian food for a feature on Barossa Shiraz and, I tell no lie, his match made in heaven featured a Yalumba Shiraz. So we are set fair! You can check out his thoughts on Barossa Shiraz and Indian food here.
As for the wines, here’s our line up: Yalumba Y Series Riesling, Yalumba Eden Valley Viognier, Yalumba Eden Valley Roussanne, Yalumba Patchwork Shiraz, Yalumba The Signature Cabernet Sauvignon & Shiraz (a great favourite of mine, especially having tasted museum releases back to the 1960s) and Yalumba FSW8b Botrytis Viognier.
